The brewers from BBP (Brussels Beer Project) are investing 6 million euro in a new brewery in Anderlecht (Belgium).
The new brewery will have an anual capacity of 35.000 hectolitres and will allow BBP to brew all its beers in Brussels. Currently BBP has a small brewery in Rue Dansaert, while 2/3 of its production occurs at a partner brewery in Limburg.
The Dansaert brewery will remain open, but focus on the experimental brews they have become famous for. The new brewery will aim to be self sufficient in terms of electricity, through the use of solar energy, while hot water generated by the production will be used to heat the building. The new project will also feature a garden of almost 1000 square metres and a new taproom to accomodate more then 25.000 people a year, according to BBP officials.
Work on the new brewery will start in september of 2020, and is expected to open september 2021. The company also says it aims to double its workforce to around 50 employees.
We wish BBP good luck with this new venture, as we love their beers so far. And lets be honest, it sounds great to have a new brewery with this capacity, brewing new beers and having a venue to go to?
